“Coffee and a Bite in Folly Beach!”
You don’t have to love dogs to love this shady little place on Folly. But you do have to love hearty, well-prepared breakfast and lunch fare. And hippies. It always helps to love hippies when you’re dining on Folly, but that’s beside the point. Lost Dog’s large shaded patio invites a lazy, late breakfast, one that you can enjoy in the company of your favorite pooch. While Fido scarfs the free doggie biscuits, you can savor their huevos rancheros or oversized pancakes with maple syrup. Open from 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m., there are few better places to enjoy a leisurely brunch or down a few hangover-curing mimosas, but come early on the weekends — Lost Dog is always bustling. Menu favorites include chicken salad croissants and the “fresh fish thing,” which cheekily relies on “what the cat caught today.”
Lost Dog has great food; however, it's popularity is killing the feel. My wife and I were there Jun 21st and we were packed into a tiny table and I had to get the table next to us to remove their items from my chair. Parking---or lack of---is also increasingly more of a pain.
Make sure to ask about the specials at breakfast-- we had an UNREAL banana bread French Toast. I can believe that this place would get crowded during peak beach season, given its location and food, but I would consider it worth it.
