Tour the Edwin Carter Museum located in a historic building constructed in 1875. Edwin Carter was a Breckenridge pioneer and famous "log cabin naturalist". Concerned about the impact of mining on the local wildlife in the late 1800's, Edwin Carter devoted his life to collecting and documenting Rocky Mountain wildlife. His collection of natural specimens played a significant role in the development of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. His home and workshop are located in downtown Breckenridge at the corner of Ridge Street and Wellington Avenue. The property is owned by the Town of Breckenridge and has been recently restored.
