“the key to outdoor adventure”
Broken Bow Lake is located in one of the state's most beautiful settings. The 22-mile long lake lies in the Ouachita Mountains of McCurtain County in southeastern Oklahoma, and its crystal blue waters provide a variety of water recreation including scuba diving. Beavers Bend State Park, located along the Mountain Fork River just below the dam, provides cabins and many other recreational facilities. Broken Bow Lake's crystal clear waters provide one of the best year-round fishing spots in Oklahoma. Fish species include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white (sand) bass, crappie, channel catfish, flathead catfish and various species of sunfish. Whether you are looking for a relaxing girls’ getaway, outdoor family fun or a chance to explore the history and wildlife of the area, Beavers Bend State Park has you covered. If you enjoy water sports, head on over to the Riverbend area where you will find paddle boats, canoes, a roped-off swimming beach and the perfect combination of a canoe and kayak—yakanoes. The 14,000 acres of clear water that make up Broken Bow Lake are ideal for seasonal Trout & fly-fishing, skiing, sailing, tubing, spear-fishing and scuba diving. Prefer to stay on dry land? Beavers Bend State Park offers golfing, tennis, miniature golf, horseback riding, hayrides, train rides and hiking and biking trails. For the hikers seeking a challenge there are sixteen miles of hiking trails designed just for them with shorter trails for the everyday hikers. If biking is more your speed, there are four miles of multi-purpose trails dedicated to mountain biking. Make your way over creek bottoms, along ridge tops, through the tall timbers and into remote areas of the country side. Grab your friends or family and rent one of the cabins or luxurious House Boats. Float along the expansive lake and take in the gorgeous view. Find a secluded cove to spend the weekend or celebrate with your friends while still on the docks. Cabins range from rustic to luxury, and you can explore nearby museums. Be sure to check out some of the local favorites like Girls Gone Wine and Grateful Head Pizza Oven. You won’t want to miss the Beavers Bend Experience!
Most things in Oklahoma are OK, but this place is great.
Great place to have a really good time. Nice campgrounds. Lots of stuff to do and plenty of amenities.
Beavers Bend State Park is a huge destination in Broken Bow for anyone who loves to be in nature. Nestled between the Ouachita Mountains and Kiamichi Mountains, the park is a favored destination all year long. We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Broken Bow, OK!
Very pretty, great museum, gift shop, nature info area. Bathrooms clean, road newly paved. We stayed at rv site acorn 9 , nice view , easy in and out. Walked to the dam, the siren is LOUD , wouldn’t want to arrive in the dark for the first time. Very curvy road. We had no problems with map.
Great place for fishing!!
