“Cincinnati's oldest tavern - Est. 1861”
Arnold’s is a historical, legendary downtown Cincinnati destination with a reputation for good food served in friendly surroundings at moderate prices. The two buildings that make up Arnold's Bar and Grill were built in the late 1830's. The bar room at 210 East 8th Street was originally a barbershop and the other building, 208, first housed a feed store with the adjacent courtyard used for a stable and carriage house. Simon Arnold opened his tavern in 1861 in the same room that continues as the oldest bar in the city of Cincinnati. Since that time the bartenders have changed, different rules allow women to enter through any door now, and the cost of a beer has increased slightly. Over the years Arnold's has achieved and maintained a wonderful reputation for good food served in friendly surroundings at moderate prices. Throughout most of its history it served primarily as a daytime tavern and restaurant. In 1976 Mr. Tarbell added a dinner program and opened the now treasured courtyard (downtown's first outdoor dining in several decades). A stage was built and live music began on the weekends. All of this continues today and with its wonderful sense of history and cultural diversity Arnold's has secured an important niche in this beautiful city.
I live very, very close to Arnolds which is awesome because their food is delicious. Equipped with a badass patio area where you can hear top notch local music such as the River City Roustabout and a very tasty beer selection. It's also the oldest bar in Cincy so it's got loads of history!
Great food. Great live music. Great vibe. The patio is probably my favorite place to sit and grab dinner while hearing some awesome local music. The salads at Arnold's are amazing, as is the roasted garlic and fresh pretzels.
Arnold's is a sweet little bar/restaurant. There is so much history here, being the oldest bar in the city. The food is good, and the staff is great. They have a really sweet courtyard with what looks to be a giant tarp covering it. Its a great place to checkout some local bands and enjoy some unique cocktails.
Amazing seating (outside has hanging lights and typically a live band playing) and burgers are great, too. Good drink selection (draft beers) and given it's the oldest bar in Cincinnati, it's got a lot of character.
As many have mentioned, great patio, perhaps my favorite in the city and lots of history. Add to it some live local folk music and some local brews and you might just start to feel at home!
Arnold's is the oldest bar in the city, and you call tell - it's full of rustic charm. The food here is great, as is the beer selection, but my favorite part about Arnold's is the patio area. You can walk in and not even realize you're technically outside thanks to the circus-tent style roofing. Lots of great local music playing here as well.
For fans of street art, JR has a piece in the back lounge on the wall and outside on the right of the building is a piece by Shepard Fairey.
Arnold's has a great patio and tasty burgers.
Good food, great drinks, good service, great place! And their outdoor patio is pretty awesome too!
Love coming here during nice weather for beers and live music outside. They make a good salad that I like a lot too.
