“Belgian food with a twist”
Serving the best possible waffle (we already do!) and traditional Belgian food with a local twist, relying on fresh and locally produced ingredients. Our Belgian bistro is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch. We have a full bar and have been voted Best Brunch in town by Metromix (2012) and Best New Restaurant by Cincinnati Magazine (2012). The restaurant also has a full line bakery and you can book the baker's table at night for parties of 8 to 14 people. Taste of Belgium also operates a small bakery at Findlay Market (Cincinnati, OH), North Market (Columbus, OH) and the Friendly Market (Florence, KY). We do not take reservation, other than for our Chef Table. The chef table sits 10-14, prix fixe only. Two seatings available daily: 6pm and 8:30pm. Although we do not take reservations, we understand the need to plan your evening and we do offer a waitlist. People on the waitlist will have priority over walk-ins. Our Belgian Bistro is located at the corner of 12th & Vine St. in OTR, next door to the Ensemble Theater. We also serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday (7am till 3pm)
Really fun place. The waffles are CLASSIC and so delicious. Food is OKAY, but it's a relaxed environment and the cost is right for a brunch/lunch spot. Love their vegetarian crepe (made with buckwheat!)
If you want to eat here, make sure you are literally standing inside the restaurant when your table is ready. They will give away your spot if you get there 15 minutes after your table is ready because you had to wake your sleeping dining companions.
OK just so you know, the waffles are seriously hearty. Dense rather than light. Delicious though!! I personally am a huge fan of the 'nati savory crepe.
Taste of Belgium has a totally cool building in a really great location. The chicken and waffles is absolutely fantastic, and the adventurous should check out the 'Nati crepe, featuring a local Cincinnati dish called "goetta" (a combo of sausage and oats). Definitely a great place for lunch, especially since the menu gets more expensive for dinner.
Great chicken and waffles. I'm also a huge fan of their waffle sandwiches although the waffles are small. The menu is a bit expensive for the portions, but still worth the visit. Also feature some great local beers if you go for the afternoon/dinner.
Don't be afraid to mix your syrup and hot sauce if you get the chicken and waffles. They actually taste pretty good together. I'd also recommend getting their fries with sauce.
It's pretty rare that I get a craving for waffles, but when I do, I'll head to Taste of Belgium. The waffles aren't your typical diner style fare, but rather "authentic" belgian style, meaning that they're a lot harder than you might imagine, but delicious. The chicken and waffles are pretty darn great too, but one of the menu's biggest standout items are the corn dogs, believe it or not. Most of the other stuff is just ok.
Not a huge fan (there are better places to go in OTR) but they are really at good what you'd expect (waffles).
Not a big fan of this place, I just don't get it. The furniture seems like outdoor patio furniture and the food just isn't that special or even good. The chicken for the chicken and waffles is dry, so are the omelettes and the grilled cheese is just bland.
So, you should know that the waffles are very dense. These aren't the light and fluffy waffles you may be used to. With that said, I'm not a fan of the waffles and chicken, which everyone else seems to love. I prefer the vegetarian crepe and the hamburger and fries.
