“Pose with the Peanut”
The “World’s Largest Peanut” is located just outside Durant’s city hall. The unique monument is dedicated to the Bryan County Peanut Growers and Processors due to Durant’s agricultural history. Just in front of the monument you’ll find a time capsule buried in 1973 that’s scheduled to be opened in June of 2023. The monument is an exciting must-see for those passing through town, and is a great photo op for children and adults alike.
Hey alright! Go and see it, take a picture! There isn't a lot to see around here for oddities. Keep calm and peanut.
Loved it. Took a picture and headed out. Nice stop....
We stopped by to see this giant gem and it was so worth it. 40 degrees on a Tuesday night at 9 pm with the kids in tow and what a great time we had. I wish I could add pictures. Theres pretty much nothing really there but the kids were excited and loved it. Even the hubby and I had fun. He got behind the peanut and dipped down so only his cowboy hat was visible on top of the peanut. What fun! Worth the stop for sure.
If you are in the area and with the right people then go for it. It's obscure and we enjoyed it, just curb your expectations.
Initially was disappointed by the size of the nut, but had fun taking photos and reading about a time capsule buried here set to be unearthed in 2023! We will be back for the festival.
There isn't much to see in this area, so why not stop and take a picture? :)
Found it and got the picture. An odd thing to see in the middle of town.
It's always fun to stop, got our picture... that's about all there is to say 😂
