“Some very interesting art”
Welcome to Dick and Jane's Spot ………. an art site and a home. Dick and Jane made most of the art you see but we have also collected art. The works of over 40 Northwest artists are on display in the yard. Generally, what you see from outside the fence is what you see. The rest is our private yard so please respect the fences. The Spot has been a work in progress for 35 years. There are over 10,000 bottle caps and thousands of reflectors. The pieces in the yard are always changing. Old pieces decay and new ones are added. Dick & Jane each received a BA in Art from Central Washington University, in 1971. Dick Elliott and Jane Orleman have created an art site predominantly from their own play, but it is also a collection of the work and play of over 35 artists. Dick & Jane's Spot is dedicated to the philosophy of "one hearty laugh is worth ten trips to the doctor."
It is weird. It is PNW weird. Basically, it is someone's yard full random objects turned into what some may call junk but others call art. All I can say is it is more interesting than a well mowed lawn. The best thing is that it is just kiddie corner to the Yellow Church Cafe which has great local beers and the best mac and cheese you ever had.
Very weird and very Washington. It's really just nothing more than an awesome yard art installation, but it's also a great place to stop and grab some pics. If you're in the area it's totally worth a stop.
Eclectic yard art viewing and photo ops as you make a full walk around this house. Quirky and fun spin on a walk around town off main street.
Very cool house!
Loved this eclectic and fun art and sculpture exhibit. Reminds me of Watts Tower in Los Angeles, and other "found object" large-scale art pieces. It is so awesome to see that they work with senior artists and are constantly updating the work. Totally worth the exit from the freeway.
So fun and creative! Loved the originality. Worth the slight detour.
What a great and colorful place to stop. You can really get lost in a sea of color and inspiration as you walk around this wonderful living art house. If you do stop here then I highly recommend that you also drive the 4 blocks up Perl street and visit Gallery One where there are more exhibits of Dick & Jane's work and also work from other local artists.
Definitely worth the trip! Fun, fanciful, intriguing, not a dull corner.
I would love to know the people who's minds created this incredible house. So much detail in every inch of this place. Signed the guestbook, took lots of pictures. Will definitely be going back again.
Worth a visit, out of the ordinary local place to see.
