Trail Ridge Road covers the 48 miles between Estes Park on Rocky Mountain National Park's east side and Grand Lake on the west. This high highway travels above treeline, the elevation near 11,500 feet where the park's evergreen forests come to a halt. As it winds across the tundra's vastness to its high point at 12,183 feet elevation, Trail Ridge Road (U.S. 34) offers visitors thrilling views, wildlife sightings and spectacular alpine wildflower exhibitions, all from the comfort of their car.

Just a heads up! You need reservations to Rocky Mountain National Park to drive this road between 7am and 3pm.

Exhilarating, breath-taking and nail-biting! The vistas are stunning. Make sure the road is open, due to weather it's usually closed for winter.

Holy cow! The views crossing the continental divide are STUNNING once you get above the treeline! Definitely check to see if it's open before you set out-- it's usually closed to snow until the end of May. And Rainbow Curve makes a great photo op!
