“good food and good fun!”
Hugo's first circus was the Al G. Kelly Miller Bros. Circus and began wintering here in 1937. Local Hugo businessman Vernon Pratt, a self-professed circus fan, went to Mena, Arkansas to talk to Obert Miller, the owner of the Al G. Kelly Miller Bros. Circus. Miller accepted Pratt's offer to house the circus in Hugo, and Circus City, USA was born. Since then 22 different circuses have called Hugo home, with as many as five at the same time. Today there are three circuses that call Hugo home: Carson & Barnes, Kelly Miller, and Culpepper & Merriweather. This rich history makes Hugo famous in the circus world, and Angie's Circus City Diner caters to all who are interested. Angie's offer some of the best food in Southeastern Oklahoma along with a unique atmosphere centered around Hugo's amazing circus culture! The diner has been in business since 1998, and since then it has managed to collect a considerable trove of circus memorabilia. They have hundreds of collectibles including original posters, tickets, pictures, many clowns, and trinkets from all around the world.
