“Visit Showman’s Rest: a memorial for former circus greats”
For over 50 years, Mt. Olivet Cemetery has been home to Showman’s Rest—a memorial dedicated to circus performers throughout history. It is the final resting place for many stars of the ‘Big Top,’ and has several unique and unusual monuments that tell stories of the stars' circus days. Buried nearby are world champion cowboys and bull riders Todd Whatley, Freckles Brown, and Lane Frost. Also buried at Mt. Olivet is Ed Ansley, better known as “Buster Brown," the 4-foot, 2-inches midget with the Dutch-boy haircut who traveled the country and world over for 27 years with his dog, Tige, as a living symbol of the Brown Shoe Co.
This is one of the coolest cemetaries I've ever seen. The head stones are amazing.
It's worth going out of your way to see.
