“overcoming extraordinary times”
Valley Forge was the site of the 1777-78 winter encampment of the Continental Army. The park commemorates the sacrifices and perseverance of the Revolutionary War generation and honors the ability of citizens to pull together and overcome adversity during extraordinary times.
Lots to do, lots of space, excellent history interpretation and trails. Set aside 2.5 hours for first time visitor doing the American history aspects and bring a picnic lunch. Check out the community activity days. You can lookup at the museum if your ancestor was at Valley Forge. Living history at Geo Wash house some days. Dont forget to drive or bike the full trail to see all the architecture. Bring a frisbee!
Expansive and gorgeous, this National Park site is well worth several hours of your day. Tour Washington's headquarters, visit the museum, bring a picnic lunch, rent a bike and take it all in.
Wow, what a great place! Very helpful guides. We bought the self guided CD for $15, it was great. Admission to the park is free.
Great auto tour. Had a great time. Just could not walk down to Washington's office. All in all, great trip.
Really nice location - didn’t know that it was as large as it is. If you want to tour it, plan for a couple hours. Due to its size, it would have been better if you could have driven more of it, but it is a beautiful location.
Absolutely beautiful country. Much larger property than anticipated. Well-curated with appropriate COVID protocols. We spent over 3 hours driving around, stopping at each place on the tour. Highly recommended.
As of sept 25th 2019 the visitor center and museum are undergoing renovations so are not available. There is a temporary visitors center with a film, but no museum access. The self driving auto tour was very enjoyable. The path at washington's command center house/train station was very good. We spend a good 3+ hours here.
Nice place it’s really big the guides are very knowledgeable. There is a lot to see here and learn from how it became America.
