“a symbol of Jackson Hole”
The T.A. Moulton Barn is all that remains of the homestead built by Thomas Alma Moulton and his sons between about 1912 and 1945. It sits west of the road known as Mormon Row, in an area called Antelope Flats, between the towns of Kelly and Moose. It is near the homestead of Andy Chambers. The property with the barn was one of the last parcels sold to the National Park Service by the Moulton family. Often photographed, the barn with the Teton Range in the background has become a symbol of Jackson Hole.
Classic photograph! Expect there to be a few people here taking the same shot as you no matter what season!
I have seen pix of this barn all my life but did not realize it was so close to Jackson / Grand Teton. Once I found out, it immediately went on my "must do" list. There is no fee to drive by on your own for a photo opp, just be prepared for alot of people.
Another cool spot with a cool history. Make time to read about the old historic sites around the park. The only wildlife we saw was prairie dogs and antelope. We visited in early July.
This is one of the most photographed barns in America, and with good reason. It's a beautiful old building set against the backdrop of the Grand Tetons. Chances are your photo won't look that different from anybody else's on the Internet, but take it anyways!
Beautiful sunrise!
The famous T.A. Moultan Barn against the stunning backdrop of the Grand Tetons is absolutely breathtaking! This is absolutely a must do!! You might even get lucky and see bison or pronghorn antelope while you're here.
